Recreation Newsletter April 2024

A note from your Recreation Chairman

So much is happening that I don’t know where to start.  I hope you read this entire newsletter to learn the details of what I can only mention briefly in my small, allotted space.

Everyone knows that Wanaque Rec helps organize and promote sports and activities for children – coming up:  registration is open for the Field Hockey clinic, the Softball and Baseball season are about to start, and Camp registration is open.  You may even know that we help organize and promote activities for the entire family, the Rec Center being open several days a week, trips to sporting events (Met game on May 11, and the Yankee game on June 20) – buy tickets for either of these events at  However, did you know all the activities we help promote for adults?

We have three different pickleball programs (daytime on Tues. Wed. and Thursday; a new beginner program noon on Fridays; and a Monday evening program).  We have our second annual murder mystery dinner on Saturday, April 6; and a trip to Wind Creek casino or Saturday, April 13.  Register for any of these on the Ticketbud site listed above.

What about free stuff for adults?  Every other Thursday night at the Rec Center we have ping pong tournaments (older children are welcomed, but tell them to let the old people win, we have fragile egos).  And when there isn’t ping pong on Thursday, there is a friendly game of poker

If you or your children have an interest in anything that Wanaque Rec doesn’t offer but that you think we should, talk to me or any of the commissioners about how you want to start such a program.  We’re game to start almost anything that is reasonable.

To see all of our activities, dates and times, check out the recreation’s website at
